Question: When did Chinese/Taiwanese peddler of fraud and thug Ya-Chang Robert Lin begin his employment with AAFES or The Exchange? According to my friend’s digital diary, January 11, 1999.

Defrauding the United States Immigration and Naturalization Services was not a challenging accomplishment enough, Chinese/Taiwanese thug and habitual liar had to take on AAFES, an agency of the DoD or the Department of Defense, too ... Unfortunately, E-Verify had not been in place and the department and/or person responsible for running background check on prospective job applicants was neither competent nor efficient doing the job  ...

as a nonimmigrant F-1 student, he had willfully operated an international students recruiting business without prior work authorization from the then United States Immigration and Naturalization Service; 

as President of said business, he had knowingly helped both mainland Chinese and Taiwanese students to evade military drafts in their countries by facilitating their applications to study in the US and abroad; 

as President of said business, he had knowingly helped both mainland Chinese and Taiwanese students looking to enter the United States with the intention of gaining permanent US resident status under the pretense of studying; 

as President of said business, he had purposely evaded paying taxes on the commissions received from it and failed to report the earned income to the IRS by having the payments wired back to Taiwan to his mother Chang Hsueh; 

he had applied for reinstatement of his F-1 or student status and a change of status, while knowingly withheld the preceding facts on his own applications for permanent resident and citizenship in the United States. 

And those are just the tip of the iceberg. Ya-Chang Robert Lin had been employed at AAFES or The Exchange headquarter in Dallas, Texas as an information technology auditor, where he managed to steal—by downloading to CDs that he kept in his personal possession while abiding for time and opportunities to "do business" in Taiwan and/or China—thousands of his colleagues’ Social Security numbers and personnel files while working on one of its HR projects. The HR data on one of these projects became the basis for an academic paper, speaking proposal for ISACA, and a consulting business he was "collaborating with " [more like conning other people into developing and fronting for him]. 

Ya-Chang Robert Lin is a reprobate with a seared conscience. Lacking normal capacity for empathy, remorse, and reciprocation of good will, he is addicted to lying, cheating, and stealing for the pure pleasures derived from being able to get away with it. Because he is such a good liar—so charming and well versed in manipulation techniques and acting skills—it is hard to distinguish him from reprobates. 

Ya-Chang Robert Lin was able to dupe some of the smart people in federal government [AAFES or The Exchange, USCIS, ICE, and DHS], higher education [Fort Hays State University and Navarro College], and information technology auditing and security [ISACA and ACFE]. Among his legacy: A son who refused any connection with him and wished that he were dead.

Then there came the scheming

Came by this part of Phandeluys’ journal where she described how Chinese-Taiwanese psychopath and thug Ya-Chang Robert Lin saw the people he was working with in AAFES or The Exchange:

He told me how even though America herself might be rich in resources, her people were mostly poor, barely able to scrape by in providing for themselves and their families. He described how one colleague “hoarded” discounted frozen pizzas by the dozens at a time and fed those to his teenaged daughters day after day in an effort to save money. There are others like him. Thus, people in this country can be easily "bought" if you ply them with food, which does not even have to be fine dining; sometimes a bag of chips or crackers, a banana, a can of Coke or Pepsi or Dr. Pepper, a carton of milk—something he would not think twice about buying but for the people he works with, it would be like a rare treat and they would be "his way in." Personally, I think it is wrong to use people's vulnerability and circumstances against them, but I kept my silence and forced my face into neutrality.

Then there was his direct boss D, a decent man whose integrity is unquestionable as far as I can tell, a man he was able to manipulate through emotions. It started out with a carton of chocolate milk, which D interpreted as a caring act. Then he proceeded through telling D about his son’s failing grade in math class [what better ways to gain someone’s confidence than to reveal your most embarrassing, humiliating or vulnerable moments? Yet those moments were not his to tell—it was our son’s]. Once he established that rapport, his next move was ensuring D saw how hard he had worked on whatever company project that was assigned to him—how late into the night he stay after his colleagues had gone home, how many Saturdays he “had sacrificed” to voluntarily come into work, and how much work he was producing from home on his “days off.” That was the "trust-building" part. He made D a collaborator in his future promotions and tied their combined prospects into a seminar/workshop proposal for ISACA from an idea that I had thought through and pitched to him to enhance his credibility in fraud auditing. 

In return, one of the “benefits” he received from his boss was carte blanche in terms of access to military bases and stays at military dorms or housing via a written directive that he proudly showed me. This document had no restrictions concerning the dates, length of stay, the locations; and there was no stated purpose of business.  

Another mean for him to “buy” people and eliminate their reservations is to find their financial vulnerability and offer to assist them. Cherilicia, an administrative personnel with the AAFES Audit Division is an example. He paid for one of her therapy sessions with a Dr. Kellvan Cheng, a podiatry surgeon with an office on Trinity Mills Road in Addison, whom I was seeing at the time for a severe sprain of my right ankle. His reason? At the time of his suggestion, he told me Cherilicia is a single mother of a teenaged son who seems to be in financial strain, that she had had ankle surgery that was not healing well and requires further treatment but that her health insurance at AAFES was not as generous as his, given their position and rank [I should have been suspicious of that], that he identifies with her unsuccessful struggles to move up in the audit division, and that helping her now could pave the way for him in the future when he needs her knowledge, skills, and [administrative] support.

Phandeluys also wrote about other people that psychopath and conman Ya-Chang Robert Lin discussed with her, people like Gilles and Cape Bellamy, Mr. O but I am not reposting those passages here.

The HR data on one of these projects became the basis for an academic paper, speaking proposal for ISACA that this conman was planning to present in collusion with this boss [who probably had no idea he was being taken advantage of and has taken leave of AAFES or The Exchange to take care of his ailing mother], and a consulting business he was "collaborating with " [more like conning other people into developing and fronting for him].

Lacking normal capacity for empathy, remorse, and reciprocation of good will, he is addicted to lying, cheating, and stealing for the pure pleasures derived from being able to get away with it. The arrogance of psychopath and habitual liar and law-breaker Ya-Chang Robert Lin

In scanning through and reading the psychopath’s responses to Phandeluys’ discovery requests, did you, readers, notice how he and his parasitic lawyers refused to answer RFA or Request for Admission No. 15 on Page 5 of 19 about Exhibit 27, which is his translated Birth Certificate that had been submitted to the INS/USCIS as part of his application to register permanent residence or adjust status?

He may have gotten away with lying to the District Court in Denton County, but lying to the government of the United States and its various agencies … It is very similar to what my friend penned in her journal regarding how The Jerk thinks he will never be fired from AAFES or The Exchange because its legal department “is staffed by incompetent lawyers who barely graduated and cannot survive in the real corporate world.” These “brain-dead lawyers doing trivial work and biding their time in this company until they can retire. That is why most employees at AAFES will never be fired—as long as they have enough money to hire lawyers and threaten to sue the company.”

This psychopath and habitual law breaker must think investigators and lawyers working in all agencies of the federal government are of similar ilk to the ones working at his current employer. Well, let us see how clever he and his lawyers think they are.

Sleuthing

Caught a glimpse of my friend dashing through her favorite Starbucks for her shaken iced coffee. She is a definite uniform dresser whose style is somewhat influenced by the seasons: her summery uniform consists of white dress pants, white oxfords, and brightly-hued silk blouses for work-related activity; tailored white silk shirt dresses and nude sandals for post-work recreation. Dangling pearl earrings, a silver-and-gold toned wristwatch, and a two-row linked sterling silver emerald-green jade bracelet complete the outfits. Minimalistic, effortlessly sophisticated, and subtly complementary to her salt-and-pepper hair … I like it.

There will not be any classes this weekend and part of the next week; Phandeluys and her partner are on a plane to Dubai this evening, which may account for the strangely energetic—more so than the usual coolly energetic air—and suppressed exciting vibe coming from her. I am already missing their classes and being around her even though my body can use the break to heal itself from all those dancesport and hip-hop moves.

In the meantime, I am wading through the piles of information Phandeluys had gathered about psychopath Ya-Chang Robert Lin and his activities spanning the period before they met and through late 2012 via both public and private means of investigation. She documented everything, including her feelings of anger, panic, sorrow, numbness, and the horrible clarity waiting to be claimed—one that would allow her to walk into the flame and begin anew.

Of the private investigations Phandeluys personally assumed were correspondences to psychopath Ya-Chang Robert Lin’s network of acquaintances to ascertain things she had been told and/or "assignments" she undertook on the psychopath’s behalf. The letter below is one.

An engrossing read

There is nothing like combing through other people’s discarded digital hardware to gather the five journalistic brushes to paint their portrait. 

I have been busily scanning through the stash of data I had retrieved from supposedly irretrievable and unreadable drives my friend had discarded, from her legal files to her personal journal in which she wrote that "life could be scary and very tough without someone setting out to eat us ... "—I think she meant that figuratively as in having your life drained out of you; and how the experience of being married to a "hissing snake" of a psychopath and being subjected to all the flattery, veiled threats, guilt, and demeaning acts of abuses designed to tear down her self-esteem still haunt her in her sleep.

While copywriting and copyediting other people’s work, my friend has been quietly happy taking classes in screenwriting and transforming her thoughts into action as she shapes her book ideas. Not only that, but she is helping her son to develop his own pocket-sized book full of jokes. 

He has some really specific, compelling and distinct ideas that she is refining and polishing. The accompanying illustrative pencil and ink figures are hilarious, too—I laughed like crazy before shedding a few tears! This is good healing for those childhood traumas we all went through to some extent at the hands of those whom we relied on to protect us. 

I can imagine a TV series based on it … heheheh. 

I am not going to give away the subject matter, but here’s to wishing much successes to both their projects. I am looking forward to getting a copy or several copies to pass out to my other Asian friends; it is going to be phenomenal seeing their gut-wrenching reactions … yup, there is that sadistic streak in me; deal with it.

Why? Why not?

Several readers asked why I am so keen on resurrecting this blog and exposing this Ya-Chang Robert Lin, whom I have never met, but more importantly, has never done anything immoral against me. 

My reasons are multiple, the supporting evidences—those that have been published and those that have yet to be published—are conclusive, and my response is long, but here is a condensed version: 

Like Phandeluys [see this post, http://faces-of-fraud.blogspot.com/2012/11/should-i-be-embarrassed.html], I believe that all productive relationships—be they professional, academic, or personal—are predicated on trust. Without mutual trust, productive and beneficial working relationships are entirely impossible. 

Using other people’s work as your own and not crediting them, stealing data on assignments, and lying all destroy trust and undermine our ability to work well together, or to work together at all. 

It is not my responsibility to keep you honest or to ensure you act ethically or morally. Your honesty and morality are your responsibility, just as my own choices and actions are my responsibility. 

If the door is open for you to cheat, lie, or steal, that is not an invitation for you to do so; if you decide to cheat, lie, or steal, that is your decision, your choice, your action. If you are so dishonest that you need other people to keep you in line, you do not belong in the professional world. 

I am committed to acting honestly and ethically toward all of the members of my communities. This include my friends. I am also unwilling to work with anyone who proves him or herself to be a cheating, stealing, or lying piece of crap. This also includes my friends. 

So, if you are caught cheating or stealing or lying in my communities, I will do my best to let the rest of the communities know that you cannot and should not be trusted.

The HR data on one of these projects became the basis for an academic paper, speaking proposal for ISACA, and a consulting business he was "collaborating with " [more like conning other people into developing for him]. 

Ya-Chang Robert Lin is a reprobate with a seared conscience. Lacking normal capacity for empathy, remorse, and reciprocation of good will, he is addicted to lying, cheating, and stealing for the pure pleasures derived from being able to get away with it. Because he is such a good liar—so charming and well versed in manipulation techniques and acting skills—it is hard to distinguish him from reprobates. 

Ya-Chang Robert Lin was able to dupe some of the smart people in federal government, higher education, and information technology auditing and security. Among his legacy: A son who refused any connection with him and wished that he were dead.

Gifted a shiny new hardware, how many of you would jump at a chance to install it and test it? It has been three weeks since the server system was delivered to my friend but she has yet to pull the package open … . 

Well, I am patient, if nothing else—and there are plenty else but only for the right people. 

And while I am waiting for her reaction on installing, configuring, and running the server system, I have been hard at work retrieving data from encrypted and reformatted drives Phandeluys had thought fit to dispose of. [Yup, that’s me—the tallish and cute-looking guy sweeping up that box of hard drives, digital devices, and a laptop she had placed beside the trash bin.] 

Most people think that by encrypting and then reformatting a hard drive that data become unreadable even if they are recoverable. I do not blame them for that popular belief but I should like to disabuse them of it. Personally, I would add sledgehammering as the last step in the encrypting-reformatting procedure, just so my mind would not stray into sleepless-nights territory wondering if somewhere, somehow, someone was reading and acting out my private fantasies. 

One never knows. And certainty leads to peace of mind and happiness. 

Anyway, seeing how I just went off on a tangent, I am dying to know what other blog posts Phandeluys had composed but did not get to publish before the original blog was shut down. Anything else is a bonus. Inquiring mind wants to know. And for those of you who must know, stay tune to see the latest capture from my daily challenge recovering those files. 

A clarification and semi-disclaimer here: I would not classify this as challenging in comparison to my work in digital forensics and data retrieval. The challenge here is finding the encryption that was used on the drives and files … once I find that, the challenge is no more. Still, a partial challenge is a challenge and I never back down from one, in whatever shape and size.

as President of said business, he had knowingly helped both mainland Chinese and Taiwanese students looking to enter the United States with the intention of gaining permanent US resident status under the pretense of studying;

To resurrect or not | I hear you readers

Since my update, my inbox is filled with incoming messages from interested [and interesting] parties—half of whom are curious about my relationship with the blog’s original author Phandeluys, and the remaining half who wanted to voice their opinions—backed by first-hand experiences with and/or supporting evidences about the subject matter and/or the people involved. 

Other than what has already been written, I will not address the former subject matter; nor will I be responding to any requests for the latest Microsoft Surface Pro tablets or Intel server systems—tower or rack. 

Here are the reasons why: 

a. My relationship with Phandeluys is none of your business and if I choose to share a tidbit here and there, then that is my prerogative; 

b. Some of you may be a reader or even a subscriber of this blog, but you and I are complete strangers—you do not know me and I assuredly do not know you. I am not your financial supporter. Nor am I Judge bleeding heart whose heartstrings you can pull with your copious “crocodile tears” and other narcissistic, manipulative, and psychopathic tactics. Your guilt- and shame-inducing efforts, dramatics, lies, and trickery are best spent on someone else. Here is the one thing I can do for you: An advice to never speak and write just to please yourself because at best, you will end up pleasing no one; and at worst, you will end up tricking someone you shouldn’t. 

Now, what I will do with the attachments you have flooded my inbox with is to review all subscribers' emails, and with discretion, post any content and its attachment that document the many wrongs—moral and illegal—that Ya-Chang Robert Lin had committed against my friend Phandeluys [and might still be committing against other unaware persons out there in his attempt to gain power and security through trickery. Ingrained habits are ineradicable; the cheating, stealing, lying, and manipulating will surface eventually because that is all Ya-Chang Robert Lin knows—and anyone who is unfortunate enough to come into contact with him should know about]. 

Now, here comes the caveat: My friend has filed motions to appeal the jurors’ decision and for a new trial. [Personally, I never trust jurors—the cognitively alert ones that you can rely on to listen and judge unbiasedly will almost always find a qualification and/or excuse that will exempt them from jury service—so you are left with those who are neither cognitively “all there” nor conscientious about their duty.] The hearing is not scheduled until April, and pending the hearing, I will refrain from mentioning and posting new evidence or anything that might disadvantage my friend. 

Depending on the Judge’s decision at the hearing on the motion for a new trial, I may or may not decide to post all the documentary evidences concerning the claims underlying my friend’s petition for annulment of her 16-year marriage—a marriage that was entered into via fraud, built on fraud, and continued in fraud.
