What would you say [and do] if your spouse gifted you his ex-girlfriend's [with whom he cohabited for several years] a fake fur coat that "she hasn't used very much" and a wooden musical jewelry box that he bought for her but didn't get the chance to give it? This relationship was my first serious one so perhaps my reactions were extreme: I felt ill to my stomach and just wanted to vomit. Managed to keep my smile, though, when I muttered "Thanks." Naturally, I tried to never touch the coat and the jewelry box, and have since gotten rid of them. Many years later, I am still convinced that gifting act of his was totally tacky and classless.
